Melbourne Art Festival to hold Silent Art Auction to benefit Student Scholarship Fund

October 11, 2015

The Melbourne Art Festival announced that they would hold this year’s Silent Art Auction at The Melbourne Realtor Conference Center on Thursday, November 12 from 6:30 – 8:30pm. Join them for an evening of fine art, music, food, and fun to support the Melbourne Art Festival’s Student Scholarship Fund. All artwork donated by participating festival artists.

The Melbourne Art Festival, held annually in Downtown Melbourne the last weekend of April, is a non-profit corporation whose mission, according to Johana Gant, Vice President of the Melbourne Art Festival, is to “to organize, promote, and encourage artistic endeavors, education, and appreciation.” Sunshine Artist Magazine has rated the festival consistently in the top 100 art festivals in the nation. To date, the festival has contributed almost $100,000 to students, teachers, and arts programs in Brevard County.

As part of it’s commitment to provide not only an art festival, but continued donations to students and local schools, the festival requests that artists participating in their event each year donate a piece of artwork, which is auctioned off with proceeds benefitting scholarships for local students to attend art classes. According to Mrs. Gant, “Seventy five percent or more of the artists donate at least one piece each year to the Melbourne Art Festival Student Scholarship Fund.” The silent auction held in the fall provides a fun way for participants to obtain outstanding artwork from some of the finest artists in the nation with the knowledge that proceeds will benefit a good cause.
